Important Leadership Update
The Board of API Leisure & Lifestyle, canopy Early Education and canopy Community is delighted to announce the appointment of Tom Allsop as our new Chief Executive Officer.
Tom is a highly respected transformational leader with extensive experience across child and family services, governance, digital transformation, and community impact. He joins API from PeakCare Queensland, where he led significant organisational growth, modernisation, and strengthened sector influence.
Tom’s values‑led, relational leadership style strongly aligns with API’s purpose of enriching lives through community connection. His experience will support the continued growth of canopy Early Education, transformation of our member services and engagement, and the establishment of canopy Community as a leading philanthropic organisation.
Tom will commence on the 2nd of February 2026. In the coming weeks he looks forward to meeting our teams, visiting our centres, and connecting with members and partners. We warmly welcome Tom to API and look forward to this next chapter under his leadership.
We also want to thank and extend our gratitude to Brett Kapernick who has been our interim CEO while we conducted our recruitment process. He has stepped in to help strengthen our processes, governance and providing stability through a time of change, showing care and compassion for the team and the communities, we serve.
