Nutrition for growing bodies – the benefits of healthy food for children
At canopy Early Education, we understand the early years are crucial for your child’s growth and development. From the moment your child steps through our doors, we provide them with the nourishment they need to thrive.
Healthy food fuels growing bodies but also supports cognitive development and overall well-being. That’s why we have partnered with Kids Gourmet Food at canopy Milton for meals and snacks, and at canopy Dakabin, we have food prepared at our onsite kitchen. canopy Early Education follow the ‘Australian Dietary Guidelines for Children’, to ensure your child receives fresh, nutritious, and delicious meal selections every day at the centre.
Our meals offer a variety of foods from the five main food groups. From vibrant fruits and vegetables to lean proteins and whole grains, with a focus on providing balanced meals that appeal to young palates.
Our canopy educators are like nutrition superheroes, guiding the children toward healthy eating habits through fun, hands-on, and engaging activities. From early on they involve the children in discussions about ‘healthy’ and ‘sometimes’ food choices, explore different cultural dishes, and play-based learning in ‘home corner’ to ignite curiosity around food diversity. At mealtimes, our educators encourage social experiences where children learn about the benefits of healthy eating and good nutrition, in a positive environment together.
We understand that every child is unique, and we’re committed to meeting their individual dietary needs, whether it’s food allergies, cultural preferences, fussy eaters, or specific dietary requirements. We work closely with families to ensure their children’s nutritional needs are met and encourage open communication around their child’s dietary needs.
In addition to providing meals, we offer full support for breastfeeding mothers, providing facilities for breastfeeding and expressing milk on-site.
At canopy Early Education, we work on laying a strong foundation for your child’s future health and well-being by encouraging a positive attitude towards healthy eating habits.
